Super Lawyers selects attorneys for recognition using peer nominations and evaluations combined with independent research. “Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis,” Super Lawyers states. Only 5 percent of attorneys in each jurisdiction are chosen, according to Super Lawyers.
The Rising Stars selection process is the same as the traditional Super Lawyers process, but eligible attorneys must be 40 or younger or have practiced law for no more than ten years. No more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in a state may be named Rising Stars.
For its Top lists, Super Lawyers states that honorees are those who receive the highest point totals in its multi-phase selection process of peer nomination, independent research, and peer evaluation.
