NEW YORK CITY — Kostelanetz LLP is proudly celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, and we are inviting our clients, our peers, and others to join us in this celebration. Our commemoration begins this week, as we remember our founder, Boris Kostelanetz, who passed away twenty years ago this week, on January 30, 2006.
Founded in New York City in July 1946 by Boris and Howard Corcoran, Kostelanetz is now in its fifth generation as a boutique law firm focused on civil and criminal tax controversy, white collar criminal defense, complex commercial civil litigation, tax planning, trusts & estates, securities law, and government contracts and procurement. Since our founding, we have built a global reputation as a law firm of choice for clients facing high-stakes controversies and negotiations with government agencies.
Over the course of 2026, we’ll reflect on our storied history and look to the future as we carry forward the guiding principles ofour firm, exemplified by Boris and echoed by our leadership over the years.
We’ll be exploring the enduring legacies of our most well-known attorneys — giants of the tax bar, such asBoris, Sid Kess, and Jules Ritholz — and talking to current firm leaders about how our history informs and perpetuates our current work. We’ll explore the things we are doing now to ensure that the next generation of attorneys embraces the firm’s collaborative and collegial spirit and tradition of excellence, through our academic partnerships with Spelman College and Georgetown Law School and other professional development programs.
