Frank Agostino was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Summer Tax Summit hosted by Milton Law Group and the St. Louis chapter of the Federal Bar Association on August 25, 2026.
The Summit honored Frank's tireless advocacy for his clients and fair tax enforcement over his four-decade practice. In presenting the award, Mark Milton discussed Frank's roots in St. Louis and praised him for his pro bono work and everything he does for the tax community at large.
In his acceptance, Frank spoke about the importance of community and learning from good mentors. He also spoke about sharpening your craft, being ready to go to trial, and always remembering to keep learning.
During his four decades of practicing tax law, Frank has been the driving force behind many successful lawsuits that sought to establish fair tax enforcement principles for taxpayers. In litigating over 100 tax matters, including the landmark cases Commissioner v. Zuch and Chai v. Commissioner, Frank's practice has reshaped the entire field of tax controversy. For example, in Chai v. Commissioner, Frank helped establish that the IRS cannot impose penalties without first obtaining supervisory approval, giving several generations of tax attorneys new arguments to defend their clients.
