BALTIMORE (December 22, 2024) — Maryland Super Lawyers has named Caroline D. Ciraolo a Top Rated Tax Attorney in Baltimore, MD for 2025.
Caroline co-founded Kostelanetz LLP’s Washington, D.C., office in 2017 and maintains an office in Baltimore to serve the firm’s Maryland-based clients.
Caroline has been selected for the past six years to the Maryland Super Lawyers list and was previously included on the list from 2009 to 2015 (Top Ten 2013-2015; Top 25 Women since 2009) prior to serving as the Acting Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division from 2015 to 2017.
Caroline’s practice focuses on federal and state civil tax controversies, including representation in sensitive audits, administrative appeals, and litigation, providing tax advice, conducting internal investigations, and representing individuals and entities in criminal tax investigations and prosecutions. She also serves as a consulting and testifying expert witness and an independent mediator in tax disputes.
Previously, Caroline served as the President of the American College of Tax Counsel, as the Chair of the Civil & Criminal Tax Penalties Committee of the American Bar Association (“ABA”) Section of Taxation, and as the ABA Tax Section’s Vice Chair for Membership, Diversity, and Inclusion and Chair of the Loretta Collins Argrett Fellowship Program.
Earlier this year, Caroline and Jay R. Nanavati were selected for inclusion on the 2024 Washington DC Super Lawyers list, with Caroline being named to the rating agency’s “Top 50 Women” in D.C. and Jay being selected among the “Top 100” lawyers in Washington D.C. for 2024.
In addition, 11 attorneys in the Kostelanetz LLP New York office were selected for inclusion on the 2024 New York Metro Super Lawyers list, recognizing the firm’s experience and skill in the areas of Tax, Criminal Defense: White Collar, and Business Litigation.
