Inclusion on the annual list is an honorary distinction, as no more than 5 percent of applicant attorneys in each state are chosen based on “12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement,” according to Super Lawyers. The Super Lawyers lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers Magazines and in leading city and regional magazines and newspapers.
Super Lawyers notes that the selection process for its Rising Stars list is the same as the traditional Super Lawyers process, but those eligible for the Risings Stars list must be 1) 40 or younger or 2) have practiced law for no more than 10 years. While up to five percent of the lawyers in the state may be selected to the overall Super Lawyers list, no more than 2.5 percent may be recognized as a Rising Star.
