Karen Kelly appeared on the Tax Notes Talk podcast to discuss the upcoming dissolution of the Department of Justice’s Tax Division and what it might mean for the future of tax enforcement. The dissolution is the result of the proposed reorganization of the Department of Justice that was finalized in August 2025, transferring tax civil and criminal enforcement attorneys into the existing Criminal and Civil Divisions within the Department.
Joined by Tax Notes Talk host David D. Stewart and legal reporter Nathan Richman, Karen discusses the potential impacts that the elimination of the Tax Division could have on civil and criminal tax enforcement.
