NEW YORK (May 13, 2025) — Kostelanetz partner Claude Millman is featured in City & State NY’s celebration of the tenth anniversary of its Fifty Over 50 list honoring “50 exemplary individuals” over the age of 50 “who have distinguished themselves in academia, advocacy, business, government, organized labor and other fields and professions.”
Ten years ago, City & State published its inaugural “50 Over 50,” and, every year since, the annual “50 Over 50” has recognized a new class of deserving New York leaders and others who were “influential behind these scenes.” City & State refers to itself as “a New York-based media organization dedicated to covering New York’s local and state politics and policy.”
Claude was included in the 2024 “Fifty Over Fifty” and is featured in this year’s tenth anniversary celebration. Calling Claude “an accomplished expert on city procurement,” City & State said that Claude’s career traversed a trajectory from an assistant U.S. attorney in Manhattan to a prominent New York City government official to a go-to source on city procurement in the private sector.
In an interview with City & State, Claude noted that he is currently working to ensure that nonprofits contracted by the City of New York to provide social services are paid in a timely way. “I think the city’s treatment of not-for-profit providers has been horrible and [horrible] for our city’s safety net,” Claude told City & State. “It is critical that they get paid and (get) paid on time.”
Claude leads the government procurement and contracting and complex commercial civil litigation practices at Kostelanetz LLP. For over two decades, Claude has represented government contractors doing business with New York City and State government agencies and authorities, advised government officials and former government officials on ethics issues, litigated matters against the City, State, and federal government, and handled complex commercial litigation and investigations, including high-profile disputes and controversies.
For several years in a row, City & State has also named Claude to its prestigious “Law Power 100” list, which “identifies the key figures in New York’s legal sphere,” including “high-profile attorneys, leading advocates and distinguished academics.” He has been recognized by Best Lawyers for Commercial Litigation and by New York Super Lawyers for Business Litigation.
