Roger Brockett graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in May of 2026, with highest honors in his joint fields of concentration, the History of Art and Architecture and the Classics
His senior thesis, "Prometheus Bound and the Rhetoric of Paint in the Art of Peter Paul Rubens and Frans Snyders," contextualizes the practices of the respective Flemish artists as forms of "rhetoric" cultivated from classical poetic theory and the contemporary intellectual sphere in Flanders at the turn of the 17th century.
Roger was named a John Harvard Scholar and, in addition to his primary studies in the humanities, also enjoyed studying mathematics. Outside of class, he worked with the staff of Harvard's Department of History of Art and Architecture, mentored students at a stem cell lab summer program, and taught Latin to high school and middle school students. He enjoys running, loves visiting local museums, and, for several years, has been teaching himself to paint in oil.
