Jay R. Nanavati will participate in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) 2026 West Coast White Collar Conference to be held June 24-25, 2026, in San Francisco, CA.
Jay will speak on the panel “Defending Democracy: Representing Non-Profits Under Threat” on issues related to the government’s efforts to investigate some nonprofits and tax-exempt organizations. The administration issued an executive order, “Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence,” in September 2025, and enforcement agencies are operating under directives to scrutinize nonprofits and revoke their tax-exempt status under certain circumstances.
Other speakers on the panel include moderator Addy R. Schmitt, Kropf Moseley Schmitt PLLC and panelists Monique Abrishami, Partner, Levy, Firestone & Muse and Maya Ingram, Legal Director, Democracy Protection Network.
