Melissa Wiley will present a session at the Queens University Estate Planning and Wealth Management Forum. The forum is a full-day event that will be held at the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement on the Queens University campus in Charlotte, NC, on April 30, 2026. Admission is only offered for in-person attendance, and continuing education credits are available.
Melissa’s session, “Staying Out of the Estate and Gift Tax Return Penalty Box,” will take place from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Eastern. She will discuss the numerous penalty provisions in the tax code that pertain to estate and gift tax matters and how practitioners can build effective defenses against them. Additionally, Melissa will discuss recent penalty case law and how to apply the “reasonable cause” standard.
