PLI Trial by Jury 2026

Sharon L. McCarthy will lead a panel on closing arguments at PLI’s day-long Trial by Jury 2026 program on October 15, 2026. CLE credits are available.

The PLI Trial by Jury program aims to provide litigators with valuable and useful insights on jury trials. This course offers participants a unique view of jury trials from experienced litigators and judges and walks them through how to handle trials, from opening statements through closing arguments. Speakers will also dissect the ethical issues that often arise and how best to handle them.

Sharon will lead the panel entitled “Closing Big: Delivering a Compelling Closing Argument,” which will provide techniques to conduct a compelling closing argument. After completing this session, participants will be able to:

    • Use evidence powerfully and effectively; show, don’t tell, the jury
    • Anticipate an adversary’s responses
    • Weave in the law
    • Prepare and deliver a winning summation

Sharon will be joined on the panel by fellow speakers: Hon. Vernon S. Broderick, U.S. District Judge, Southern District of New York; Hon. Eric R. Komitee, U.S. District Judge, Eastern District of New York; and Richard M. Strassberg of Goodwin Proctor.
