He received Departmental Honors for his thesis, “Guardians of Democracy: The Criminal Justice Response to the 2021 Insurrection at the United States Capitol,” which explored the historical context of the Capitol insurrection and the current efforts of the Department of Justice to prosecute its participants. At Columbia, he worked closely with Adjunct Professor Jenik Radon of the School of International and Public Affairs, researching cybersecurity and press freedom issues and helping organize the 2022 Global Conference on Media Freedom in Tallinn, Estonia.

He further served as a tour guide for Columbia’s Undergraduate Recruitment Committee, taught classes on civics and the Constitution to New York City high school students, and played violin in Columbia Bach Society.

Prior to joining Kostelanetz LLP in June 2022, Nikhil worked as a Pro Bono Intern for Proskauer Rose LLP, helping the firm advocate for LGBTQ asylum seekers persecuted for their sexual orientation in their home countries. He also worked in the district office of Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06), where he helped constituents navigate the federal bureaucracy to access government services and researched the promotion of religious freedom in U.S. foreign policy.

Originally from New Jersey, Nikhil enjoys playing and listening to classical music, playing tennis, and exploring New York City’s cultural life in his free time.
