Robert M. Russell, a member of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) Section on Taxation, completed his term as Chair-Elect and was appointed as Chair of the FBA Section on Taxation for the 2020-2021 committee year.
The FBA Section on Taxation promotes the welfare, interests, education, and professional growth and development of members of the Section; promotes high standards of professional competence and ethical conduct in the practice of federal tax law; and provides opportunities for interaction between tax practitioners in public service and the private sector.
The Section is well-known for its annual Tax Law Conference held in March in Washington, D.C., as well as the Insurance Tax Seminar in May. During the year, the Section provides programming through its monthly Tax Practice & Procedure roundtables and substantive tax panel discussions on new tax developments. The Section emphasizes its Beyond the Beltway Committee, which serves to connect and provide a tax community to those outside of Washington, D.C. Members are invited to participate in the Section’s many active committees, such as the Women in Tax Committee, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, the Young Tax Lawyer Committee, or the newly established Attorney Health and Wellness Committee – inaugurated by Mr. Russell. As Chair, Mr. Russell will work closely with Section Officers, including Immediate Past Chair Marissa Rensen (KPMG US, LLP, Washington, D.C.) and Chair-Elect S.
