Merima received her bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University, where she earned a spot on the President’s List and graduated summa cum laude. In 2020, she obtained her law degree from Georgia State University College of Law, where she received recognition for excellent performance in lawyering advocacy and graduated magna cum laude.
During law school, Merima volunteered at Atlanta Legal Aid Society and assisted senior citizens with estate planning and administration. She also served as a student attorney at the Philip C. Cook Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, where she assisted taxpayers with civil federal income tax disputes.
Merima assists clients with federal tax controversy and litigation matters at all stages, including audits before the Internal Revenue Service and litigation in the U.S. Tax Court. Her experience includes responding to audits, summonses, and discovery. In addition, she is familiar with trial preparation and has worked closely with numerous experts, including appraisers, biologists, and economists.
Prior to joining Kostelanetz LLP’s Atlanta office, Merima was an associate at WELTY PC for several years until its merger with Kostelanetz in June 2024.
