Garrett L. Brodeur was quoted in a recent Tax Notes article titled “Senate Call for Crypto Tax Input Shows Progress for Industry,” published on July 28th, 2023. On July 11, 2023, Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Mike Crapo (R-ID) of the Senate Finance Committee published an open letter to members of the digital asset community seeking industry and taxpayer input on a variety of questions concerning the tax treatment of digital assets.

Taxpayers have a better chance of getting clear rules when they have the ability to provide direct
input on the regulations, according to Garrett L. Brodeur of Kostelanetz LLP.
“The letter illustrates not only a desire to learn about the industry, which is important, but also to
appropriately tax it, and I think both approaches are necessary for good tax policy,” Brodeur told Tax Notes.
