Megan Brackney to Lead Ethics in Tax Advice Session at CBIT’s 2024 Fall Tax Day in NYC November 21, 2024

The Committee of Banking Institutions on Taxation (CBIT) is hosting its annual Fall Tax Day on November 21, 2024, in New York City at Arno Ristorante on 141 West 38th Street. CBIT has Spring Tax Day and Fall Tax Day every year, and they are all-day events. 2024 Fall Tax Day starts at 8:45 AM with lunch served at 12:30 PM and a cocktail reception at 4:30 PM.

The cost to attend is $75 for CBIT Education members, and $125 for non-members. Members can bring up to two guests at the $75 member rate. Tax students and eligible public service professionals can have their registration fees waived. Registrations are accepted through November 20th. At the time of writing, CBIT is pending an application for continuing education accreditation for CPE, CE, and New York CLE nontransitional credits.

Session topics include tax reporting regulations for digital assets, tax reporting of capital gains and other types of gains, foreign trusts, and more from speakers representing PwC, Wolters Kluwer, KPMG, and other large accounting and law firms.

Sessions also include input from government employees. Kostelanetz partner Megan Brackney is hosting a session from 9:00-9:55 AM on ethical standards for dispensing tax advice. Ms. Brackney frequently leads sessions and educates other tax professionals on ethics in the tax profession and Fall Tax Day is an opportunity to learn about hot-button tax issues and how to adhere to higher ethical standards in your tax practice. Partner Megan L. Brackney is an experienced tax attorney and Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation. A former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri, Ms. Brackney is a frequent speaker and contributor at local and national conferences on taxation, ethics in tax practice, penalties, and tax controversy.
