Beatriz Oliveira is a rising 2L at Columbia Law School. During her first-year, she participated in the European Law Mootcourt Competition where her team qualified for the Regional Finals in Madrid and she was the Semi-Finalist in the role of Commission’s Agent.

Interested in studying criminal law and international law, she has been involved in different pro bono projects: Beatriz was a Sanctuary For Families fellow during the fall semester and worked on a parole application for an incarcerated individual with Columbia Law’s Parole Advocacy Project. Beatriz is a member of the Columbia Society for International Law and has done research on international crimes committed in Armenia to write a report for referral to the ICC.

Beatriz graduated magna cum laude from the Dual Bachelor of Arts Program between Sciences Po Paris and Columbia University in New York in May 2022 where her studies have primarily been focused on international law and foreign affairs; her senior thesis focused on the role of the P5 Members of the United Nations Security Council in upholding peace and the rule of law. Beatriz participated in a Practicum class at Columbia Law School where her team represented an individual sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Prior to starting law school, Beatriz worked as a paralegal at Kostelanetz. Beatriz has also interned at SAP’s Chief Trust Office where she conducted research on cybersecurity regulation for the health care and financial services industries worldwide. She was also a Business Development intern at Felsberg Advogados (Brazilian law firm).

Beatriz was born and raised in Porto, Portugal, and she enjoys spending time volunteering, reading at the beach, baking, and writing fiction.
