The Jules Ritholz Memorial Merit Award

This award is given in recognition of outstanding dedication, achievement, and integrity in the field of civil and criminal tax controversies.

Jules Ritholz was a nationally known tax lawyer and a senior partner in the firm of Kostelanetz, Ritholz, Tigue & Fink. His clients included major corporations, theater and sports celebrities, and politicians. He represented New York Mayor David N. Dinkins in a case involving late filing of income tax returns when Mr. Dinkins was Manhattan Borough President. Mr. Ritholz was an adjunct professor of law at New York University for more than twenty years. He was also an elected fellow of both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Counsel of Tax Lawyers. His articles on tax fraud appeared regularly in the Journal of Taxation and Taxes.
